Helen Palmer, Teacher, Pre-k Through Second Grades
Westwood is blessed to have a teacher with Mrs. Palmer's enthusiasm, gentle nature and love of children to guide our youngest students.
Mrs. Palmer grew up in an Adventist home in Britain where her father was an Adventist educator. She received her Honors Degree in Education and English from London University. She taught elementary school in the British public school system for fourteen years; six of which were spent as her school's assistant principal.
Her husband's job transfers eventually led them to St. Louis, where Mrs. Palmer taught for five years at a local Christian preschool before joining Westwood in 2004. Because of her extensive experience, Mrs. Palmer was asked to develop Westwood's first pre-K program, which in its first year, boasted the school's largest class with 10 students.
Cheryl Weible Teacher's Aide
As our enrollment increased, Mrs. Weible joined the staff. 2005 marks her second year assisting the teachers and students of Westwood .
In addition to raising her three children in North Dakota, Mrs. Weible served as teacher's aide at their preschool. Once her children were grown, she combined her love of quilting with her talent for custom framing and opened her own shop in 1993. However, family ties pulled Mr. and Mrs. Weible to St. Louis where each of their children had relocated, and her love of children made Mrs. Weible the perfect choice for Westwood's new position.
Working at Westwood has given new meaning to the workplace for her. She says it is so nice to be able to go to work, not worry about Sabbath issues and most of all be around teachers and students who hold her same beliefs. She looks forward to the day when her two grandchildren will attend Westwood.
